Hi guys, I've been following the Maestro guide to reauther 'A beautiful mind', wjich I do like very much. Since this is my first DVD, I ran into a couple of problems. The first one is related to time positioning: I've used DVD2SVCD to extract my video and 2 audio tracks from the movie, which means using CCE. I prefer CCE to any other tool since I believe it is the best encoding tool... but, as commented in the forum, using it introduces some problems. On one side, importing chapters to Maestro fails, since I only get 8 out of 21, but I have read elsewhere that this can be solved adding 1 hour to each time item in the .chp file... could someone confirm that this is the cure to the problem? Same trouble I find with subs, which stop appearing one hour before the movie ends... I think this is basically the same problem as with chapters, and has to be solved in the same way. Can you also confirm that? If so, could someone give a dhort description on how to fix all this? But the main problem I don't know how to solve is related to the way subtitles look on the final project: I get nasty big red letters with a thick white outline. That's pretty ugly to my eyes, and I'd like to chenge it. I would prefer white letters without any outline, or just a think black outline. I guess that's related to the way SubRip extracts the .bmp files, but don't know how to change it. Could someone please be so kind to explain a little bit how can I change this? I seem to have read also that this can be done editing the .son file, but I don't know what should be edited inside this file and what the parameters there mean... Thanks for your patience :)

sounds like you are not changing the timecode in cce. it defaults to 01:00:00:00 you should change it to 00:00:00:00. that will then help all the chapters and subs to be imported properly without altering the files. about the subtitle colours. when you create the .bmps and the .son file you will also have a .spf file (this is your colour pallate. right click on one of the subs and select edit subtitle. go to the colour tab and then select edit pallete. on the new window select load and open the .spf file, click ok and the subs should change to the original colours. thingimijig.

@fmazzanti. when you put your video into maestro there is a timestamp just over the video stream on the far left just over the number 1 of your video stream. if you put your mouse over it, it should say video timestamp offset. press that and reset it to 00:00:00:00 thingimijig.

Hi again, I've solved my timecodes problem without re-encoding anything. Solution for chaters was as simple as adding by hand +1h to each chapter in the .chp file, while the solution to the subs problem was to rip them again with SubRip but telling him to add an offset of +1h to each sub. That worked pretty fine and everything is in synch...

I got a problem when I try to import the CHP-file. It says: I-Frame Insertion entry frame rate is not consistent with current tape frame rate! I-Frame import will be canceled. (0xc102008b)

Hi Arianos, really a small world... at least for those of us who share such an absorbing hobby :D BTW, what burner do you have? I purchased 3 days ago a Pioneer A05 and I'm already encoding my ecnd movie... SVCD? What was it? :p And yes, the problem you mention about offsets is not the *perfect* solution, but right now works for me. I use to encode 95% PAL and 5% NTSC, but thanks for the info. It will come in handy for that 5%!
