Blank screens & no boot. Now this Mac Boot Firmware 3.1.1 prompt appears- either type: mac-boot or cancel. Happened only a few times. This morning 'yosemite jane' started ok. It's true there's not room for a PCI worm to **** in there, but hey! what gives?

FWI-I used the benign version and it still got 86'd.

Shaggy, I've never seen this before except when intentionally trying to rev firmware to be Open Firmware compliant. I'm not sure how this relates to storage. Have you contacted Apple tech support? What do they have to say? ------------------ --Steve Rosenthal, Digidesign ETS

It occurs when I put in the Miles U/W card (Initio claims is now compatible with all PCI Macs). Maybe this is related to the dual ATA drives?

Initio now suggests this may be a (2nd ATA) drive problem. (This Yosemite is a rev 2) When you type mac-boot (enter) on Openfirmware 3.1.1 sometimes the mac freezes at the OS icon with this code below: /pci@80000000/pci-bridge@d/pci-ata@1/ata-4@0/@0:5/ I have also contacted xclr8yourmac. Any help will be greatly appreciated. (I have dual Maxtor ATA drives)
