1999 S80 T6 - Got fuel yesterday and the gauge only went to the 1/2 way point. Computer sez 170 miles to empty; usually sez over 400 after a fill up. Went to another gas station and was only able to squeeze in another 1.8 gals., so the tank is probably full. Started and restarted but same indications. Didn't find any fuse related specifically to the gauge.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Are you sure the gas tank is full? I'm in NJ and have had fuel tank problems twice on my 2000 T-6. Both times, the problem was a clogged vent tube, located directly beneath the fuel tank filler door under the car. The first clog was a spider web and the second clog was about a hundred tiny, baby spider carcasses. The vent looks like a mini muffler and is easily visible when placed on a lift. Simply blow some compressed air into the vent tube to clear it. Watch your eyes though........Good Luck

Thanx VOLVO4PETE! Shot air into vent tube & thru vent hole just inside filler flap on the left. Turned ignition on/off several times & started car but still n.g. Then I drove it a few hours later and gauge was back up where it should be! Filled tank and all O.K. now! Thanx for saving me a bundle at the dealer. Hope you get all the toys you asked Santa for! This car has lots of quirks. You can can spend much time and money trying to figure them all on your own. My latest is a 20% loss in gas mileage immediately after my 60000 mile service. Car feels fine but......
After the next fill-up, the problem came back. Tried the air trick again but this time N.G. Altho I set my trip meter when I fill up, this issue is making me nutz. Guess I'll have to work a bunch of overtime so I can pay for service at the dealer.
Hi, Purchased a 1999 S80 T6 about 4 months ago and I've been having the same problem since day one. Gauge does not go higher than halfway on a full tank. Digital display doesn't show correct estimate of kilometres to emtpy. Fuel warning light appears when it thinks there is 10% gas left, but in reality I have over 25 litres in the tank when the light initially comes on. I tried the compressed air trick into the vent tube as described above but it doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. I did manage to get a hold of another fuel gauge from another S80 and switched it for mine to test. I proved that their was nothing wrong with my gauge as I got exactly the same results. Anybody else have any other tricks?
