Anime filter request/idea: Area Smoother X

Hey ppl, it's too bad i can't program shit. But there is this avisynth filter called AreaSmoother 0.1 from page. What it does is smooth out whole areas and give em one single color. This has VERY nice effects on anime movies since they have huge areas that are (should be) the same color. This filter is very nice when one has crappy areas with a few messed up macroblocks. The current filter has many artifacts though. It often 'smoothes' areas that shouldn't be smoothed. So I was wondering if some of the doom 9 geniusses would like to look into this and make a new filter that does something similar what this filter does. It would solve soooo many anime encoding problems, like too smoothened pictures/backgrounds,and no mftoon achieves nice effects, but it sometimes blurrs too much, is too slow, and leaves blocks if te source isnt 100% great. (it's a great filter though) So ppl, plz look into this, could be a major breakthrough. Thnx, Neme.

Interesting thing, but I wouldn't really call it a major breakthrough. I see enough problems that would keep me from using it.

This version causes enough problems indeed, but if its devoleped further (perfectioned), it would be major. So that is what i'm asking, a NEW version of it.

Well, the way I see it, the problems the current version has are inherent to its design. Soft thresholds (mask) could help but still I don't think it could really be perfected.

Well, no filter is (the results that is). i mean, how often u see gey/dark areas with huge macroblocks (no gradient areas), a filter like this would be perfect. Doesnt have to mean it has to be an update of the old one. But just a new filter that automatically selechts huge plain areas over a few frames and blend those together to 1 color (for the whole area). Time will tell. :) P.S. Who are the hardcore coders here (c++ ? )
