Mr.Data No - according to the user manual midi-in2 is merged into midi-in1,but from my experiance this is not the same as 2x midi ins. EvilDragon That looks right, thats why he can load a midifile and play it back, but the problem seems to be Hohner midi-out->usb->PCin - PCout->usb->SC.I doubt if the Hohner has midi in/out/thru, if it has there surely would be plenty routing options. Q. Does this USB cable have a driver/program to edit routing options? Q. Where is the OP anyway, we can't help if he don't participate

Now I've set cables up like EvilDragon recommended ! To me it looks exactly like my original cabling - right ? Can somebody tell me the difference ? Summery: Until now I have 2 problems: 1) the spooky thing concerning the disapearing of sound when I try to change the instrument by Show MIDI track control for selected track/Enable/choose Generel MIDI/choose an instrument - then NO sound att all comes out of the SC55 - and I have to reset it to factory settings to get it working again. 2) When I want to play along or record a new track to some excisting MIDI tracks then I have a delay from my pressing the keyboard til I hear the sound - small but so big it is very hard to play it right. Oldtimer: Does this USB cable have a driver/program to edit routing options? No driver ! Where is the OP anyway, we can't help if he don't participate - He's right here ;-)) Now I will try the cabling Oldtimer recommended and see what comes up.

Now I tried Oldtimers cabling setup - that's it ... I think this is the best practic setup. Some logic comes up here - IF I route the track I'm recording - with "the upper IO-button/MIDI Hardware output" - to USB MIDI Cable then I get one ECHO signal - and I think it is THIS signal I hear when I talk about "a delay" - that's logic for me now. Now it would be nice if I could "send" some code to the SC55 to get it out of the "no sound"-state instead of doing the "Factory settings"

hi Ksor, good to know we are making some progress. Now, just tell me EXACTLY how you have routed your cabling. Something like this:- Keyboard out->SC midi-in1(or2) etc.and so on, so that I get the complete picture. More thoughts: Does your USB midi cable show up in options/preferences/midi devices.Check this out and if it does, in MIDIinputs panel, right click on your device and choose enable input, and then on the MIDIoutput panel, right click and enable output.

Oldtimer: I have made the cabling this way: Keyboard OUT - a new MIDI cable (5DIN to 5DIN) --> SC55 MIDI IN(1) SC55 MIDI Thru --> USB MIDI Cable IN --> USB on pc USB MIDI Cable OUT --> SC55 MIDI In(2) (In(2) is NOT send to SC MIDI Thru) Q: Does your USB midi cable show up in options/preferences/midi devices A: YES it does and both input and output are enabled!

Yes,well that seems exactly right to me. I can't see it working any other way,and as I've said thats how I do it and it works just fine (allbeit that I plug into soundcard not USB) as far as I am aware PC's can "see" midi wherever it comes from. Now the problem seems to be more with ReacontrolMIDI (that is the fx that pops up when you go,right click, and select "show midi control for selected track" As far as I can tell ReacontrolMIDI is only partly implemented (at least as far as the SC is concerned)for example I can control program change (intrument)from my keyboard, and it is reflected on the SC *but not in ReacontrolMIDI program list*, on the other hand, I can select from ReacontrolMIDI program list *and it shows on the SC* I dare say there are ways to fix this but non of that affects me much, I use only the GeneralMIDI bank anyway so its no problem to me. More thoughts: 1. When you open ReacontrolMIDI hit *all notes off* 2. At the top next to *Param* box hit *+*/Link to midi pragram change/change no link to channel 1 3. Hit MIDI box and make sure Send MIDI to VST and Allow VST to send MIDI are ticked. 4. Even if GMreabank file is shown in greyed out box,hit Load file and reload it. 5. On the SC, (for example) 001-Piano 1 is changed to 001+ -Piano 1 (when you get the "no sound" problem)? Nothing to do but reset. 6. Reset all controllers = 121 deci 79 Hex. If you put 79 in sysex box and tick always send sysex on start, it will only affect 1/Level(vol) 2/pan 3/reverb 4/chorus, it will not remove the + so you still have to do that manually. But I will try to find out if there is a sysex to *reset to factory default* I am sure by now you have gone over all these points a thousand times, and I do know how exasperating things can be when they do not work as expected. Perhaps now is the time for someone with more experiance/know-how of MIDI/ReacontrolMIDI to chime in. Anybody?

This is the full sysex to "reset to factory default" F0 41 10 42 12 40 00 7F 00 41 F7 Put this in the ReacontrolMIDI sysex box and tick "send at start of playback" or just click resend box when you need to. You dont have to type the first and last two digits (F0 and F7)they are allready there. F0=start of sysex message F7=end of sysex message,so that is the same for all sysex messages. And yes it does work. Something else for you to read:
