Yeah also concerned about this. I experience a lot of "poof" crashes when using Superior Drummer and to explain usually I get a kit loaded up about 1 gig and works flawless. When I get above 1.2 gigs then it can get very unpredictable, and usually just will just crash out but no warning :( So yes love to know more about this!
The memory limitations are more of a Windows thing than a problem in REAPER. The 3G switch *may* help, but it makes alot of systems unstable. The best solution for this RAM 'shortage' is going 64-bit. I've been considering this but really don't want to mess with Vista (I'll wait for Windows 7). So in the meantime... PUNT!! :D
I am getting the same problems too!! reaper is only using 1,2 gig of ram cpu at 60% crashing and or poofing every 5 to 15 min This has to be a Reaper bug so many people are experiencing this problem. the plugins I am using are waves api ssl vintage, stillwell, rocket, majortom Altiverb, tritone Digital valvetone, pultone, drumagog anybody using these? my system: p35-ds4 rev2 motu 828mk2 4gig ram cpu quadcore 6600 2 ide drives 1 sata windows xp pro sp 3
Thanks Franz, there were some good hints in that topic. I'm going to try decreasing buffer sizes. I also didn't know that elastique hogs a lot of memory, so I have to render tracks with it. To bullshark: In the performance meter where it says system, my numbers are something like 1300MB/3250MB.
