Eci card indentification

if I put the disk io in my old nubus 8100 everything is fine. When I put it in the 12 slot nubus expansion chassis it freezes on startup when loading the digi init. When I install the cards as told by the answerbase (0123456789AF) the chassis doesn't recognise the io card in slot0. Whenever I place the io card in a slot with number 1 the freeze at startup takes place, unless I detach the SCSI cable. When the io card is in the mac itself everything is fine..... only thing I can imagine is the ECI card being of the wrong type...probably the pre-PPC. How can I indentify the ECI being PPC or not? Or do you think it might be another problem?

It has been a long time since I don't use a NuBus system, but I remember experiencing the same problem you are describing. The problem I had in two different systems was solved by changing the big black cable that connects the computer to the expansion chassis in one case, and in the other case it was that custom SCSI cable that has to be connected from the inside of the chassis before you put the card into the NuBus slot. good luck, Ricardo

It looks like I'm having the wrong card. Found some pics of the cards here. I recall reading in a thread that it is possible to use the pre-PPC card in a PPC 8100. Can't find it again though....anybody got an idea, or anybody having a card lying around doing nothing? I'll post this request in the buy/sell section.
