hello I currently own a P4 1500 megahertz comp and would like to start "burning" copies of my dvd's but i only want the best quality. for this i would like to know what programs give the best results and which programs the proffessionals are using. please include all the newest programs (links are not necessary) and i will gladly appreciate it. I am looking to do a DVD to AVI burn and would like to fill all of the 700 mb's up (with error protection) i have divx 5.0 pro and would like to know which divx is the best. basically i want to know what programs are the most updated and most used by proffessionals. i am already computer savy and it usually takes me a week to learn new things, i am not afraid of learning anything and so would appreciate any help that i can get. Thanks kbp :D :D
GordianKnot is best way to DivX. U Should try Xvid out as well. Do few test encodes with both codecs and decide which one u like best. Since u are making rips to CD-Rs, u might go Ogg Vorbis for audio so u should read

now something is wrong with DVD2AVI (or I am doing something wrong) everytime I run it from gknot it shows this windows error: AppName: dvd2avi.exe AppVer: 0.0.0.0 ModName: dvd2avi.exe ModVer: 0.0.0.0 Offset: 00009d00 (i can give more detail if needed) first of all i want to describe what happens- upon pressing F5 the video that i see becomes scrambled (in little squares) it then runs from 30 seconds to one minute. Then i get the error what i have tried: i have twice installed dvd2avi into the Gknot dir replacing the old files each time. then i tried to reinstall Gknot itself (again nothing) I am positive that i am opening the correct file from the dvd and so now i am where i am - in need of help. thanks for your time kbp
ahh i got passed that bye just letting it run for only 5 or 6 seconds i guess that might be sufficient, but now when i open the .d2v file i encounter about 6 or 7 error messages as follows access violation at address 00427fd4 in module "guardian knot.exe". read of address 0000002c access violation at address 00427fd4 in module "guardian knot.exe". read of address 0000002c (then the same several more times) then at the end i get a access violation at address 77f5215c in module 'ntdll.dll'. write of address 10101010 i dont think this is something i can just ignore please tell me if there is something i can do

Hi- i have twice installed dvd2avi into the Gknot dir replacing the old files each time. If I understand that correctly, you replaced the version of DVD2AVI included with GKnot with a different version. There's your mistake. Use ver. 1.76 (the one already included) as D J Bobo said.

HUMAN ERROR! well after checking my version I found that it was version 1.76. So then I furiously read and reread the guides over and over trying to figure out what was wrong. I found out exactly what it was, instead of preparing the VOB's that I had just ripped I was opening the vob files straight from the dvd! Boy am I a newbie! well hell now that I got it Im all good. :D Thanks for your time, (Im sorry for my incompitance):( kbp and you will see me back on this forum (hopefully alot wiser) PEACE
