Just burned my first ritek and apparently there were scratches already on the disc but I did not notice them. Also, there was a very fine piece of string or something like it when I burned it. When I took out the CD and removed the string, it looks like that part under the string was never burned. Basically the lighter purple, the darker purple being burnt. Should I just toss this DVDR and make another or keep it. Another problem I have is that advdinfo does not work on my computer. When I run it, it crashes and I get the XP screen to report the error. Does anyone else have this problem or know how I can fix it?

The part that was never burned. Was it inner towards the inner circle or outwards towards the disc's edges?

It was outer. I just looked under the light and there are like 3 little specs like that. It's all unburned but the surrounding area is burned. Does that mean the movie is gonna skip when it reaches that part? Should I just throw it out?

Well, that just means you didn't use all the space on the disc. You probally burned somewhat (maybe 3.70 GB)- less than 4.30 GB. I think the disc is fine (unless you made some errors with the burning process), I would pop it in the DVD Player.Even if it's messed, I don't think it will do any harm to your DVD Player. As you are describing it. Hope this helps! :) ...If it does do any harm please don't blame me! :D
