Don't know why everyone hates! Vista so much. But I just put it on my machine. Running reaper with just my UAD plugins, and I can browse internet, ans the phone, jerk off, scroll ALL OVER the reaper GUI, zoom in / out, and it's not even giving 1 CRACKLE! I can't do this in XP, and I'm only using like 100 MB of resources in XP. In Vista it's like 700 MB with just the OS running! (which is retarded)! But, I can't believe how Rock Solid it is. Of course I'll repost and say how much it sucks 2 weeks from now. But it's good business right now!!!! Wonder what it'd be like under windows 7 with all my plugs and what not. And 64 Bit, I need to look into that at some point.

I hate it because I haven't got it, and because everybody else hates it - pathetic isn't it?

Oh BTW, I didn't do "ANY" of those XP DAW tweaks we all know and love. Disabling services etc. . . Of course my install had all the Retarded things turned off, as in REMOVED from the actual install. And mind you, I was doing all this with Aero enabled, and Vista was sitting at a RETARDED 700 MB with NOTHING running. I was like wtf, but I can't complain if I opened one of my Huge Sessions, and it was like, wtf is this small shit you're putting up on me, and just Handled it. I was like, this feels like PT HD, not to mention I'm using an alpha build. Good times, hope you get it ironed out or just stay on XP. They're both good, XP is "OLD" though. And I can feel it more now, since using Linux, Vista, (now Windows 7) and dare I say, my Macs!

Hmm, your system looks pretty much the same as mine. And I'm sure it cost you an arm and a leg. But, an HD 4850 is not a problem, unless it had 128 mb of ram. 4 GB of Ram looks cool, is it 3 gb used total on 32 bit systems? You have an edirol sound card and a delta sound card? I suppose that worked for you in xp. Maybe your setup just sucks for vista 64, not sure why most need more than 3 GB of RAM. How many VSTi's need to be in one session?

That Powercolor has 512 MB of DDR3 onboard, and it sport hardware mpeg decoding and native x64 drivers, so it's doubtful it wouldn't be able to handle anything Vista throws at it. XP only let you use 2GB of memory for applications, unless you use the 3GB hack(which I won't do) and using sample libraries 2GB loads up extremely fast. It is the bottleneck on my system currently.

Running Vista 64 here, and Reaper runs as smooth as a baby's bum. The only hiccup I've had was with UAC getting in the way of some themes I was trying to unzip, but it was easily dealt with once I figured out what was going on.
