hope this hasn't been reported yet [YES I did search]: pls take a look at the attached pics. The one with the errors was taken when playing back using ffdshow-20020617.exe xvid content encoded with XviD-08082002-1.exe the other one without errors had the "use xvid for decoding" check box checked... so, is there any fix for this apart from using xvid for decoding, since ffdshow needs less CPU Power...?
ok, thx i tried searchin for ffdshow black or ffdshow errors ... if think it's safe to say a mod can delete this post now, sorry... but there still is no fix out yet, right? ;)

@everybody, When decoding XviD, if you do not want extra ugly blocks and artifacts in your encodes do not use postprocessing deblock/dering options with either "presets" or "custom" in ffdshow! You can just use Codecs -> "Xvid" and "decode using XviD" and Miscallenous -> IDCT: XviD with no postprocessing at all. However, if you "really" want/need postprocessing for some reason in ffdshow, only and only use "automatic quality control", without touching the rest. P.S.: You may not notice the negative effect due to your monitor settings and illumination. For best testing: either watch "on TV" or for PC monitor "full brightness and contrast / higher resolution such as 1024*768 / completely dark environment - if possible at night ;)" Both ffdshow-20020617 and ffdshow-20020906 are tested with an XviD constant quantizer 2 encode, focusing on very dark scenes, and both managed to ruin the encode, producing heavy blockiness, when decoding with postprocessing deblock/dering options enabled in "presets" or in "custom". regards, iago

Maybe Im wrong, but if you choose "Decode with XVID" you dont have to set IDCT: XVID aswell, because ffdshow then uses XVIDs decoder, and the combo with iDCT only affects the libavcodec decoding. Or am i wrong? regards /wuntvor
