How do I set up Reaper/RME to Not monitor input without effects?

No idea about the RME mixer but you have to turn off input monitoring in Reaper (it's set to "Tape Auto Style" on your screenshot).

ok just from memory and could be wrong... turn down the monitoring level for that input on the RME mixer,- but leave the ASIO channel level up. then it's just a matter of using reaper to monitor instead. Kind regards Dave Rich

on the top row of totalmix, either mute everything or turn all the fadeers down then if you dont have monitor on or auto and you DO hear something, you know something is still wrong

If I press mute I still get direct sound. If I pull all the faders down I get no sound at all even with fx.

I had this working before just cant remember what I clicked :) Whats happening is when I am playing my guitar through the amp sims I get both the non effected signal And the effected signal. I dont want to hear the non effected signal but I do want it to record that.

I tried this earlier and when I lower all the faders in that context I get no sound at all even when running the fx on the track in reaper.
