Help - Project not loading...

(** POSTED IN BUGS FORUM TOO **) Not sure what happened. Everything was working great until I made a few changes to one song this afternoon. It appears only this one song gets "hung" upon load and then errors out Reaper. I'm on Vista, Reaper v2.54. I'm guessing it's a bad VST i loaded up on the MASTER bus. Is it possible to load a song without loading VSTs? A HOTKEY? Like, for example, you can load Reaper without a project by pressing the SHIFT key. This is a song destined for a CD in 2 weeks. Open Reaper from the start menu with the empty project ("Reaper (create new project)") and open the faulty project via File->Open project and tick this checkbox. If the project file is damaged, there should be at least the backup Reaper created automatically when you saved the current one the last time.

I just tried a trivial song with Grancomp 3 on the Master and it re-opened fine. But that's in XP SP2

low and behold, the issue popped up again (after successfully going in and out a few times). i re-entered with plugs off, and tediously turned on a group at a time, saved and re-entered. took a while - but when i added back the plug below - it immediately hung. odd, because i've been using this plug for a few weeks with no problems. the only change was adding STILLWELL's exciter with it. i dunno, maybe had nothing to do with - or everything. anyway - it's back to safe, ole REAFIR for me. culprit PLUG: i have no idea why taking GRANCOMP3 off orginally allowed me to go in a few times without errors. the second time it hung - it was actually hanging on a VR5 file, which had me in a panic because i thought there might be a corruption with one of my primary tracks. anyway... for whatever it's worth.
