I had a listen, it's awesome mate, great recording, particularly the music itself was so well written and arranged, some real hooks there. Are they real drums or programmed? Sounded like samples to me
I used a Joe Meek VC1 to record the vocals. The Compression on this thing is great!! It also has an enhance feature which really brings out the presence. I sang into a AKG C414 mic. All electric guitars were done through a Digitech 2120. I started on a Pod Pro, and didn't like the digital sound I was getting, so I bought this, and I love it. The bass was done through an Agular Once rack space preamp, I dont know the model number. The drums are programmed unfortunatly. This is the only part of the project I am not that proud of. I just didnt have the space or equipment to do well with real drums, so this was the next best alternative. I would rather have programmed drums, than cheap sounding real drums. I really appreciate the comments!!! Any more??
If the drums bug you, you might try loops, beefed up by some programmed stuff. I use the loops because I SUCK at programming drums and its pretty time consuming. You can do some stretching on drums within PT (6 only, I think) and that can work on slight timing diffs on a loop. Key is to find loops that fit or are stripped enough that you can supplement with programmed stuff. Its easier when you are doing it on the front end of a :30 commercial, but maybe too hard for as far along as you are. Might try getting with a local drummer and seeing about sending him a tape of say, one song for him to rehearse and then come over and track it. Add it to the session on new tracks muting the programmed stuff. Might work. Never know until you try. And you can use the programmed to perhaps supplement here and there. At least you could say you tried, if that is an element that you are bothered by. The caliber of your stuff is good; might be worth trying. May want to see if the live stuff could satisfy the reservation you've expressed.
