Posted for Product Management in answer to questions from Cubase owners - To use 001 with Cubase VST: Make sure you have the 5.0 DSI in the System Folder/Extensions Folder. Remove the Digi 001 OMS MIDI Driver from the OMS Folder in the System Folder Launch CuBase Open the Audio System and Select Direct I/O This should work.... Now the real fix will come with 5.0.1 When 5.0.1 is released, you will no longer need to remove the MIDI driver. We use Direct I/O for all audio and MIDI services. Right now, with the 5.0 DSI, we cannot access Direct I/O with 3rd party applications for MIDI and audio simultaneosly. This is being fixed with 5.0.1. Digi Product Management

And I had just about given up hope...:> I will try this tonight. Hopefully, I'll be able to use an external OMS device (not the 001), such as my MTP A/V for midi. If not, then I'll wait (impatiently) for 5.01. At least this is VERY encouraging...I don't suppose there will be timecode in that release, will there? BTW, there are also brand new directions on the Steinberg site at (a long one): The gist of it reads as follows: "In order for the Digi 001 to be recognized, you must remove all the ASIO drivers from your ASIO folder except the ASIO Direct I/O driver. Also we strongly recommend to use the Digi System Init 5.0. DSI 5.0 is required when running the Digi 001 in a Mac G4." I just know Lyle is going to add his 2 cents worth, also . ------------------ LW

It worked!!! I haven't tested everything thoroughly yet, but the Cubase 32-track demo played fine through the 001. I also recorded a junk track on a previous song/session I had that was incomplete and recorded ir via input 1 (direct guitar). I was also able to load my Waves VST NPP (with the iMate dongle). I was also able to use the MTP A/V, USB version using OMS to play back some midi tracks I had recorded on that session. Then I ran out of time (client came in for a real session - and I used PTLE). The Direct I/O driver wasn't on my PTLE CD, however. Maybe it comes on the regular 5.0 CD. I had to download it from Steinberg's site. ...will continue testing. So far, so good. ...Logic works with the 001, and now Cubase. Just see the caveat above about not being able use the 001's midi port until 5.0.1. ------------------ LW

Hooray!! Alright!! Now we are getting somewhere. Thank you Digidesign. I'm looking forward to trying this out. This answer gives me hope. Does this get around the DAE error problem with Platinum G3's? I hope so. Peace, Lyle Long [This message has been edited by long2play (edited January 25, 2000).]
